Need a refresher on Two Up rules for Anzac Day? Here’s your simple guide.
Created by the troops of WW1, Two Up can be played for one day only and it’s Anzac Day! The game involves one person (the ‘Spinner’) tossing up two coins and people in the crowd betting on the outcome. Here’s how to play:
- The ‘Ringer’ places two coins, tail side up, on a bit of wood known as the ‘Kip’.
- The Players stand outside the circle known as the ‘Ring’. They can bet on whether both coins will fall on heads, or tails.
- Two heads means the ‘Spinner’ wins, two tails mean the ‘Spinner’ loses their bet and the right to spin. Odds means the ‘Spinner’ throws again
- The coins must fly high into the air, (3 metres), not touch the roof and all coins have to fall within the ring. If one or more falls outside the ring, the ‘Ringer’ declares the game void. The ‘Spinner’ then makes another throw.
- The other players around the ring place side bets against each other on whether the ‘Spinner’ throws 2 heads or 2 tails.
Do remember to gamble responsibly and be a good sport – comradery is what the day is all about. BYO cash! See you there.
